Passing an argument on to next page

I have a block that pulls an argument from the url.
When someone clicks a menu link on the webpage, I want this argument to get past on in the url, how do I do that?
I'm currently using "Nice menus", but I'd be willing to switch if that's a problem.

Well, that'd obviously be a solution :)
I was hoping more for a checkbox in drupal that said "Pass on any 'custom' arguments with each link unless otherwise instructed" or some such.
Nice menus won't automatically do that I want, and if I'm going to create the links with the argument, I need to either hack nice_menus, or write the menus myself.
