I want to make a file database

I recently stumbled on Drupal after changing webhosts and found it available as one of my auto-install options. I checked out this site and think it might be capable of what I want to do with my website. Here is what I am trying to make:

I want to make a file database - specifically, a database for users to be able to upload compressed archives and pictures in order to provide an easy distribution method for custom mods for a game that is coming out in a few months (The game is called Torchlight). I was going to use Wordpress and my phpbb3 forums to attempt it, but I realized that it would probably be too complicated for people, and Drupal looks simpler.

I only want users to be able to create three things: Personal Blogs, Pages to act as a homepage for their mods, and the files themselves. I want blogs, pages and files to be able to have tags or keywords of some sort to allow for easier searching. I want search options available for Everything, as well as individual search options for just searching through blogs, or just searching through pages, or files. Lastly, I want the frontpage to have some kind of feeds that show the latest blog, latest page, and latest file upload, but I don't want users to be able to make changes to the frontpage on their own (just admin editting).

What I want to know is what modules people would suggest to help set all of that up? I already found one that allows files to be uploaded as File Nodes, and I have been searching through this and that, but it is kind of overwhelming at first to know which thing I should try and know what I might be overlooking.

As an added note, are there any kinds of security or virus-checking modules out there? Viruses are always a worry when hosting a file database.
