Friendselectric problem

nathanb2 - November 7, 2009 - 14:06

I have installed the Friendselectric theme on one of my sites, www.eugeneflinn.com . It looks fine in Firefox and Opera, but in IE it looks terrible. All the text is way too big, and depending on who's looking at it, either the content in the middle or the right column is pushed all the way down off the screen. It would be great to get a solution to the text appearing too big, but what I really need fixed is the problem with the content dropping down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Multiple Users Editing the Same Page Concurrently?

ryan.hackl - November 5, 2009 - 21:44

We have an 'announcements' page for our school drupal website (at www.spiritwoodhs.lskysd.ca). I would like to be able to give multiple users the ability to add their own announcements to this page (to alleviate the workload on any one person).

My dilemmma/question: if multiple users edit the same page, might some data get lost? Consider a scenario: User A starts to 'edit' the page, adding announcement 1,2,3. Before he/she is able to 'save' the page, User B starts to edit the same page, adding a different set of announcements 1,2,3. If User B should save after User A, does it overwrite User A's announcements?

Hopefully I haven't confused the matter, which is... can multiple users edit the same page concurrently?

Using Deploy with Views Bulk Operations

Last modified: November 6, 2009 - 07:59

The View Bulk Operations module allows operations to be executed against a group of nodes as selected by a View. This is a powerful tool for granularly performing actions against nodes. Deploy functionality is supported by Views Bulk Operations just like it is on the content list form. As an example, Deploy contains a default view at admin/build/deploy/choose_nodes which will be enabled if you have the Views Bulk Operations module installed. Note that by default this View is only viewable by users with 'administer deployment' permissions. This view allows you to filter nodes by content type, front page flag, author and/or post date. You can then easily select nodes to add to a deployment plan or deploy immediately. The view serves as a good sample of how you can use Views Bulk Operations to build a view for integration with Deploy functionality.

If you wish to create your own view from scratch, here's how. (Note these instructions assume some familiarity with Views.)

  1. Create a new node view per whatever needs you have as normal.
  2. Add a new Page display to this node.
  3. Set the Page Style to Bulk Operations.
  4. Click the 'gear' to adjust the settings for this style.

Needed: Task list for Drupal installation which equals standard installs of WordPress or Joomla

davidgtuttle@gm... - November 4, 2009 - 18:41

Hi,
I'd like to get a list of tasks I need to complete in order to create a Drupal installation which contains all of the features of WordPress and a magazine-style theme. I started looking into this and it appears daunting. Is there an installation profile which will accomplish this? I tried two installation profiles available on this site and couldn't get either working.

So far I have:
1) Drupal - standard installation
2) WYSIWYG - FCK
3) Panels (? - not so sure about this - this module seems to obscure my control over the page layout)
4) Something to help with Image management
5) Implement Drupal Theme to meet basic magazine-style site layout requirements

This may be completely wrong and/or may be missing several other needed modules.

One particular area that I am stumped on is with formatting the main content of the page. In wordpress the templates are easily identifiable and easily edited. In Drupal I can find $content and I have no idea how to control how this main content is displayed. I discovered that the Panels module helps but it also had limitations in that I couldn't find a plain old php file to edit in order to modify output.

For reference the WP theme I have used looks like this:
